There's no honest flat price on a teardown — what it runs in Charleston comes down to size and construction, whether the foundation or slab comes out, asbestos on the older buildings, how tight the access is, and how far the debris has to haul. We read all of that at a free on-site walk and hand you a straight number.

Brohez Trucking is a demolition contractor in Charleston, IL working right next door — twelve miles down Route 16 from our shop. We take down houses, detached garages, sheds, barns, and outbuildings in town and out in rural Coles County, then haul the debris and grade the lot back clean. In-town Charleston lots are tight, so we plan the machine approach and the truck turnaround before anything comes down.
Rentals, estate properties, and farmsteads out toward Lerna, Ashmore, and Oakland are the usual calls. See house demolition, garage demolition, barn demolition, or all demolition services. Free on-site estimate — call (217) 809-0779.
Charleston is ten minutes from the shop, and drain tile repair is one of the steadier calls we get out of Coles County. The ground east of town toward the Embarras bottoms is a different animal than the flat farm ground north of Route 16 — bottom ground has outlets that silt in and banks that erode back over a tile end, while the flat ground has runs that settle out of grade and quit moving water long before anything visibly breaks.
In older Charleston neighborhoods we spend as much time on yard tile and footing drains as on field tile — a lot of those lines are clay, they're older than the houses' current owners, and tree roots have been working on them for decades. On the ag ground it's the usual: collapsed clay, crushed plastic, blown outlets. We locate the failure, dig it, splice or replace the bad run, and rebuild the outlet if that's where it went wrong.
Repair and targeted lines — no pattern tile. Full detail on drain tile & field tile repair, or see drainage work in Charleston if it's surface water. Call (217) 809-0779.
Charleston has the best pond terrain in Coles County. The ground east and south of town breaks toward the Embarras River, and that relief gives you something most of central Illinois doesn't: real draws worth damming. Build across the right one and the valley does half the work — less dirt moved, more depth for the money, and a natural watershed already pointed at the basin. The trade-off is that Embarras tributaries flash hard after a four-inch rain, so the emergency spillway has to be sized for the whole watershed, not the pretty-day flow. There's often timber on the footprint to clear first, and the uplands hold good clay while the river bottoms run sandier — we read that before we stake anything.
Charleston pond jobs are clay-lined and runoff-fed, dam keyed into native clay, spillway cut to grade and seeded. See pond construction cost for what actually moves a new-build number, or fix a leaking pond if a dam has started seeping at the toe. Bigger watershed than a pond can use? That's lake construction.
Charleston is close enough that we know the people, the soil, and the roads. We've put rock driveways in across Coles County for years, dug foundations on rural properties, cleaned out and restored ponds, and replaced culverts that washed out in the spring rains. Local enough that we'll see you again — that matters.
