Instead of just filling the hole and grading it flat, we can strip and stockpile the topsoil, compact the fill in lifts so the ground doesn't settle under a new slab, and leave the pad shot to grade and ready for the post holes or the concrete crew. The machines are already sitting there — doing it in one mobilization beats bringing a second outfit back out in the spring.
